Insta360 and Bambu Lab have turned the Luna Ultra into a maker challenge, releasing official 3MF and STL files so designers can build precision-fit accessories around the flagship dual-lens 8K gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica. For Luna Ultra owners, the appeal is practical: custom mounts, rigs, and small add-ons that solve real shooting headaches instead of waiting for a catalog accessory that may never come.
The contest runs on MakerWorld through August 9 UTC and carries more than US$11,000 in prizes. Winners can receive Luna Ultra bundles, Bambu Lab X2D Combo and A2L Combo printers, gift cards, coupons, and other hardware, while Insta360 says the strongest ideas may be pushed toward further development and even become official products.
The challenge is split into two paths. One track is for fully realized model designs, with entries that can be uploaded as practical parts or creative mods. The other is for social content, letting creators show off printed concepts or pitch ideas on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, or Reddit’s r/Insta360 community. MakerWorld says submissions can be practical, experimental, decorative, or simply for fun, which lowers the barrier for photographers who have a useful idea but are not building CAD files from scratch.

That structure makes the contest feel less like a one-off promotion and more like an attempt to grow an accessory ecosystem early in the Luna Ultra’s life cycle. Insta360 launched the camera on June 10, 2026, and the official reference model on MakerWorld followed on July 2. The company also tells designers to preserve the camera’s key functional areas and assembly structure, a clear sign that this is meant for usable add-ons rather than loose fan art.
Bambu Lab describes MakerWorld as a collaborative 3D model platform that connects creators, users, filament vendors, and printers, and as a destination for free STL files. Insta360 is the first camera brand to have an official presence there, a notable move for a category that has usually treated third-party customization as an afterthought. The most interesting results may be the unglamorous ones: a better stability mount, a cleaner filming rig, or a travel-friendly bracket built for the way photographers actually carry and use the Luna Ultra in the field.
